National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska

Senior Division

Board Member meeting -October 1, 2015

An informal Board Member meeting was held via phone conferencing on October
1, 2015 from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. (CT). The meeting discussion concerned details
of the upcoming NFBN Conference planning. Those in attendance: President
Robert Newman, VP Barbara Loos, Secretary Karen Lemmon, Treasurer Cheryl
Livingston. Not in attendance; Becky McCullough. Listed in this report are
discussion topics and decisions.

1.      Cheryl Livingston will be one of two people at the registration
table for the Senior Division Luncheon. The registration table should be set
up by 11:30 A.M. on Friday with the Luncheon from Noon until 2 P.M.

2.      Discussion of the concern for the scheduling of convention. IE the
conflict of activities and especially luncheons at convention that are
scheduled at the same time.

3.      Discussion on deadlines for registration, bus from Lincoln and
Hotel.

a.       To save money register on line by October 23.

b.      Bus registration can be paid through check directly to Fontenelle
Tours by the 14th or may be done through on-line Conference registration
with credit card by the same date.

c.       Hotel registration deadline is October 10th.

5. Suggested agenda: Registration, Welcome by Robert, Meal, Introduction of
Joe Ruffalo, Speaker Mr. Ruffalo,Circle chairs for meeting, introductions of
individuals, discussion on 'Handling The Holidays', Election of Officers,
Craft project. This is subject to change as Robert will work out the details
and email it for approval to board members.

Members are encouraged to create or bring items for door prizes during the
Senior Session.

7. Robert reported no applicants have formally submitted a request for
fellowship funds offered to first time Senior Convention participants;
deadline is October 14th. The board will all be part of a committee to
decide on who will get what funding. Once 

8. Robert suggested the craft at the end of the session be an origami
ornament made of the Senior agenda from the Session. Robert will look into
specifics. A prize (suggested $5) be given to the 'best' ornament judged by
the board members.

9. Elections: Robert, Barbara, Karen and Cheryl all agreed that if there was
no one else to fill the positions they would assume their jobs for another
year

10. Rather than having another meeting this month we will use the phone
system to include members who cannot be at the convention but would like to
participate in the meeting.

Call Joe Ruffalo and invite him to be the guest speaker at the Senior
Luncheon. (Robert)
