NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF NEBRASKA SENIOR DIVISION SECRETARY'S REPORT

Monday, February 8, 2021

The NFBN Senior Division met via Zoom on Monday, February 8, 2021.
President Robert Newman called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM CST.
Members present were: President Robert Newman, Vice President Barbara
Loos, Secretary Linda Mentink, Treasurer Cheryl Livingston, Board
Member Nancy Oltman, Chris Boone, Gina Finnell, Brad Loos, Steve
Senteney, and Jerry Whitlow. Guests present were: Warren Bennet and
Betsy Stumpf.

Betsy told us a little about herself.

Linda recited our NFB Pledge. Robert will recite it next month.

Attendees shared alternative techniques we use to do things in our
daily lives, including pet care, labeling and organizing food cans,
labeling appliances, marking clothes to tell colors, cutting pie or
cake, and vacuuming.

Linda read the January 2021 Secretary's Report. Barbara asked for
clarification about dues. Cheryl's report does not reflect the dues
paid by Robert, Brad and Barbara because they paid through Paypal.
The Secretary's Report will be made a part of the permanent record of
the organization.

Cheryl read the February 2021 Treasurer's Report as follows:

This report will be made a part of the financial record of the organization.

Robert reported that he has talked to Eric Buckwalter about the
video. Eric said he would like to talk to the committee some evening,
Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon. Barbara will contact Jo and
they will figure something out, probably after Brad feels better.

Chris reported on the Washington Seminar, which is happening
virtually this week. She began by explaining what it's like to be in
Washington, DC in person. Because it's virtual this year, there are
more people involved: ten who haven't been to Washington Seminar in
at least six or seven years, with eight of those who have never been
before. THERE are five Congress members from Mebraska, and we have
scheduled meetings with all five offices. She explained the four
initiatives: the Access Technology Affordability Act, the Accessible
Apps and Website Act, the Nonvisual Access to Medical Devices Act and
the Americans with Disabilities Voting Rights Act.

We shared brags and drags.

Barbara mentioned that the Accessible Services for the Blind and Be
My Eyes are hosting a free webinar about talking Glucose Meters for
blind and low-vision Diabetics. The webinar will be held on Friday,
February 12, at 12:00 ET. Anyone interested should contact
info at accessiblepharmacy.com.

There was no further business, so we adjourned at 9:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Mentink, Secretary
