NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF NEBRASKA SENIOR DIVISION SECRETARY'S
REPORT
Monday, October 11, 2021
The NFBN Senior Division met via Zoom on Monday, October 11, 2021.
President Robert Newman called the meeting to order at
7:04 PM CDT. Members present were: President Robert Newman, Vice President
Barbara Loos, Secretary Linda Mentink, Board Member Nancy Oltman, Chris
Boone, Jo Boshart, Gina Finnell, Brad Loos, and Steve Sentiney. Guests
present were: Melvin Forster and Gayle Mason.
Nancy recited our NFB Pledge. Jo will recite it next month.
We discussed fund-raising. Robert suggested that we raffle off a
$100 Visa card which can be used anywhere. If we do this, Cheryl will have
to set up a separate raffle account. Linda read her notes from the
fund-raising meeting she attended on September 30.
She offered to match up to $500 to help with any immediate needs.
Jo would like us to fund raise outside our division. Barbara said we could
go visit somebody to help them if we had money for things like
transportation. Gayle used to fund-raise for the National Red Cross. They
learned that the best publicity they had was their fund-raising campaigns.
Barbara moved that we do the match fund-raiser that Linda proposed, and that
we either send checks in whatever amount we choose to Cheryl as Treasurer,
or we do it on the website via PayPal with a note in there that it is for
the Senior Division match fund-raiser. Jo seconded, and the motion passed.
Cheryl will report the donations, but not the names of the donors. Anyone
who needs one can receive a receipt. Jo suggested that we do the match
until Christmas and brainstorm when we start up again in the new year. We
will discuss the ins and outs of raffling and shipping a basket when Cheryl
is at our meeting.
Robert mentioned Amy's notes to Chapters that we read through last month.
We need to work on building our membership.
Linda read the September Secretary's Report. There were no additions or
corrections, so it will be made a part of the permanent record of the
organization.
In Cheryl's absence, Linda read the October Treasurer's Report.
It will be made a part of the financial record of the organization. Melvin
asked what PAC is. Barbara explained it and said that anyone wanting to
contribute should talk to her.
Linda gave a brief summary about the upcoming day of celebration, November
13 at the Graduate Hotel in Lincoln.
We shared brags and drags.
There was no further business, so we adjourned at 8:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Mentink, Secretary
