MEETING SECRETARY's REPORT

		Monday, October 9, 2023

		The NFBN Senior Division met via Zoom on Monday, October 9,
2023. President Robert Newman called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM CDT.
Members present were: President Robert Newman, Vice President Barbara Loos,
Secretary Linda Mentink, Treasurer Cheryl Livingston, Board Member Nancy
Oltman, Dorothy Babel, Bob Burns, Melvin Forster, Brad Loos, Steve Senteney,
and Jerry Whitlow. Guests present were: Jo Boshart, Kathy Brahmer, Deb
Mauer, and Eli and Emily Sidders.

		Bob recited our NFB Pledge. Eli will recite it next month.

		Our focus topic was Questions and Information. Question: Why
should someone need a letter from his doctor stating that he is legally
blind? With this letter, one is eligible for a handicapped sticker, extra
standard deductions from IRS, BARD, BookShare, Directory Assistance, and
audio description box at no extra cost from Cable companies. Apple
accessibility number: 877-204-3930. Nancy plays games. She will send those
she listed to our listserv. Others mentioned other games. Bob mentioned that
the Adobe Acrobat update no longer works well with JAWS. He will send
instructions on what to do to reconfigure Acrobat Reader.

		Barbara talked about upcoming Health Equity dialogues. She
will be on one October 19 from 1:00 to 2:30. She will send the Zoom link to
our affiliate listserv.

		Linda read the September 11, 2023, Secretary's Report. There
were no additions or corrections, so it will become a part of the permanent
record of the organization.

		Cheryl read the October 9, 2023, Treasurer's Report. It will
become a part of the financial record of the organization.

		Robert, Jo and Barbara will work on the script for the video
for use by activity directors. Robert will see what Chris would like to do
to be involved.

		Robert mentioned that Peg Halverson will be our speaker next
month. She will share about AI.

		We shared brags and drags.

		There was no further business, so we adjourned at 8:32 PM
CDT.

MEETING SECRETARY's REPORT

		Monday, November 13, 2023

		The NFBN Senior Division met via Zoom on Monday, November
13, 2023. President Robert Newman was having trouble with his connection, so
he was not able to attend. Vice President Barbara Loos called the meeting to
order at 7:09 PM CST. Members present were: Vice President Barbara Loos,
Secretary Linda Mentink, Treasurer Cheryl Livingston, Board Member Nancy
Oltman, Dorothy Babel, Chris Boone, Bob Burns, George Fischer, Melvin
Forster, Brad Loos, Steve Senteney, and Jerry Whitlow. Guests present were:
Jo Boshart, Kathy Brahmer, Gina Finnell, Peg Halverson, Deb Mauer, Dominic
and Kathy Mezzanotti, Bernadette Reetz, Kimberly Scherbarth, Eli and Emily
Sidders and Dan Treffer from Nebraska, Regina Connor from Rhode Island, June
Hunter-Hardy from Delaware, Elizabeth Johnson from Massachusetts, Patricia
Maddix from Washington, Ellen Ringlein from Maryland, and Beth Wright from
North Carolina.

		Eli recited our NFB Pledge. Barbara will recite it next
month.

		Peg Halverson was our guest speaker. She spoke to us about
artificial intelligence and blindness-related apps for IOS and Android. She
demonstrated many different AI products. She spent a lot of time on Be My
AI. Jo explained what she likes about it. Peg answered questions.

		Because it was late, we decided to postpone reading of the
Secretary's and Treasurer's reports until next month.

		Barbara mentioned that next month's meeting topic will be
about the holidays. She also passed along the news from Robert that he and
Bonnie's new grandchild, Linden Alexander, was born at 6:01 PM.

		We shared brags and drags.

		There was no further business, so we adjourned at 8:37 PM
CST.
