Hello Nebraska Students,

I am the editor for the Nebraska Independent, the NFBN newsletter. We are a biannual publication, and I am currently looking for any interested in contributing to the newsletter.

You can check out the current Nebraska Independent issue at ne.nfb.org or on Newsline. With each issue, we set a theme or focus, but I am always willing to accept suggestions. I would love to have a younger voice on the newsletter. We can learn so much from our seasoned Federationist, but the next generation needs to step up as well. I want to hear your thoughts, opinions and ideas. We are the nation's blind, and we must speak up and let our voices be heard, young and old alike.

The deadline for the next Nebraska Independent will be February 13, 2011, and our focus will be philosophy. I want to know your thoughts on philosophy. Maybe you have a specific example that demonstrates your personal philosophy of blindness, or a time when you came to terms with accepting a positive philosophy. I also accept short-fiction or poetry that deals with blindness. Be creative and let the pen )or keyboard or stylus) take you where it will!*smile*

I'm hoping to develop a team who I can count on for submissions and who will take assignments too. I would love to have a consistent column and a steady flux of submissions in general. It would be wonderful if the Nebraska Independent could grow into a quarterly or even monthly publication, but to do this, I require the help and support of Nebraska Federationist.

If you are interested in submitting articles or would like to learn more, contact me at newsletter at ne.nfb.org. We need your support. You don't have to be a professional writer to submit, we want to hear all the voices across Nebraska.

I look forward to hearing from many of you. Let's make our newsletter the best it can be!

Sincerely,
Bridgit Kuenning-Pollpeter
