[Nebraska-Students] Meeting Tonight at 8:00PM

Greetings Brandon and All,

Happy November!

I thought I'd paste the section from the constitution about meetings below.  The student division doesn't have to meet monthly if it isn't needed.  Most divisions only meet quarterly, but it is totally up to the membership.  So if more members would attend a quarterly meeting on a different day rather than a monthly meeting on the same day then go for it!  

It's good to see members being responsive and involved!  Oh and don't forget the NFB of Nebraska State Board will meet in Omaha on November 12th, so please join us!

	ARTICLE VII   MEETINGS

Section One:  Annual Business Meetings

The Organization shall hold an annual business meeting the time and place of which shall coincide with the time and place of the State Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska.  At least twenty-five percent of the active members must be present to constitute a quorum to transact business.

Section Two:  Special Meetings

The President of this Organization may call a special meeting any time she/he or a majority of the Board of Directors deems such action to be necessary.  At such special meetings at least twenty-five percent of the active members must be present to transact business.  To call such a meeting, notice must be given to the Board of Directors at least ten days prior to the date of such special meeting.

Hello everyone, 

First, I want to thank Maura, Christine, and Geralyn who respectfully communicated they were not able to attend the meeting. As the president of this organization, it brings a smile to my face when I see responsible communication going on. It shows that you care. Being that some of our number cannot make it tonight due to busy schedules, and Tuesday nights are busy for some of us these days, do you all think it would be better to arrange a more suitable schedule to accommodate the business of our members? I want to show that I value you all as members, and if there’s anything I can do, or any of us can do to maximize participation, let me know, and we can work something out. I can also send those who can’t attend the minutes and recordings as I have done in the past.

I apologize guys, the last school board meeting of the year happens this evening. We don’t usually meet at this time of the month but busyness really got in the way. So this will be my swansong as president of a School Board. It has been quite a ride! I will be thinking of you guys tonight.
