Greetings Federationists and Friends!
Only one week until we gather in Lincoln for our 52nd Annual National
Federation of the Blind of Nebraska Convention! Are you ready to Dream,
Dare, Discover?
Now that registration is completed, the rooms are booked and transportation
is scheduled, it's time to start your packing list! Here are a few
activities and events you'll want to plan for.
Fund-Raisers - What would a convention be without members wandering the
halls in search of people to purchase goodies or chances at fun prizes?
Greater At-Large Chapter:
Breakfast goodies are available at just $1 or $2 per item. Get your fuel
for the day with a muffin, trail mix, granola bar, cheese or fruit and
drinks every morning just inside Lancaster 4,5,6.
Lincoln Chapter:
Satisfy an afternoon chocolate craving with and assortment of Baker's
Chocolates for $5 or purchase a chance to win some Bose Sunglasses for $5.
Find members at the information table or around the convention halls.
Omaha Chapter:
Gratify your salt craving with some delicious Indiana Popcorn for $5 or
purchase some reading materials for the trip home with audio books on CD for
just $5. Members can be found at the information table or around the
convention halls.
Jailhouse Karaoke:
Get your friend arrested and they either have to sing during Jailhouse
Karaoke Saturday or pay bail of $10! A warrant for arrest can be purchased
for $10 and are only available at the information table and must be
purchased by Friday evening. You might want to start thinking of your
favorite karaoke song, in case you get arrested!
Auction:
Friday evening a select few items will be auctioned off during rounds of
trivia. Baked goods, gift certificates and beer making kits are on the list
along with other items! Cash or checks will be collected during the auction
so come prepared!
Lucky Ducky!
During the cocktail hour of banquet purchase a lucky ducky for a buck a
duck, or 6 ducks for five bucks. A game will be played with the ducks
during banquet, and you could win a cash prize!
Get On The PAC Plan!
The Pre-Authorized Contribution (PAC) Plan has come to be an ever-more
important part of financing the movement. The PAC Plan allows members,
affiliates, chapters, and others to give a regular and automatic donation to
the Federation every month. All you have to provide is your checking or
savings account identification information. Because of the costs associated
with operating the program, the minimum donation is $5 a month and there is
no restriction on how much you donate.
PAC contributions can be made during the banquet or by contacting Barbara
Loos by phone at (402) 486-3679 or e-mail beloos50 at gmail.com
<mailto:beloos50 at gmail.com> .
Exhibit Area - Visit the exhibitors on Friday afternoon to check out a wide
variety of products and services. Sixteen different vendors will be on hand
to meet with you. Check out this extensive list, and download it.

The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska knows that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
