Dear Federation Family,
On behalf of the National Federation of the Blind of Nevada, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to everyone who made our 2025 State Convention at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino such a success.
To our vendors, presenters, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees—thank you. Your energy, commitment, and collaboration created a weekend full of learning, fellowship, and forward movement.
A heartfelt thank you to our National Representative, Jim Marks, for your wisdom, leadership, and inspiring keynote address. Your presence helped ground us in our national mission and reminded us that we are part of something powerful.
To those who led sessions and shared your knowledge:
Greg Curtin for performing the National Anthem, and Stan Mitchell for offering our invocation.
Becky Jayakumar for the Legislative Update and for representing the Las Vegas Chapter.
Brett Silver from the Nevada State Library for updates on Talking Books and BARD.
Ramona Coker and the Northern Chapter for your chapter reports and ongoing leadership.
Murray Elbourn of Amerability, for your exciting presentation and introduction to your programs now launching in Nevada.
Skye Dunfield, for helping us prepare for emergencies and disasters with practical guidance.
Ryan O’Neill, Havander Davis, and Raquel O’Neil, for leading thoughtful breakout sessions on white cane travel, Meta glasses, and daily living skills.
Raquel O’Neill and Pedro Navarro, for an insightful and uplifting session on adjusting to vision loss.
Orlando Johnson, for sparking curiosity and ideas in your talk on AI prompting for the blind.
Frida Aizenman and the Resolutions Committee for your work shaping our advocacy efforts for the year ahead.
Chun “Allen” Chao for your treasurer’s report, and Ramona Coker again for your work on membership.
Mona Coker, for leading the Nominations Committee with clarity and care.
A special thank you to Chef Regina Mitchell, who once again dazzled us all with delicious meals, unexpected treats, and absolute culinary excellence throughout the weekend. Your care and creativity made our shared meals a true highlight of the convention.
We also want to thank Mona Merklein, whose hard work brought us the incredible donated gift baskets that made our auction such a success. Your contributions helped make the banquet fun, exciting, and memorable.
We are also grateful to our generous sponsors—Amerability (Platinum Sponsor) and SAAVI Services for the Blind (White Cane Sponsor)—for supporting this gathering and our work as an affiliate.
To everyone who attended, connected with others, asked questions, and participated—thank you. You are what makes the NFB strong in Nevada. Your presence, energy, and belief in our movement are what move us forward.
Let’s carry this momentum with us as we continue to build a stronger, more empowered blind community. Remember: you can live the life you want—blindness is not what holds you back.
Yours in the movement,
Mark Tadder
President
National Federation of the Blind of Nevada
