Northern Nevada Chapter Birdwalk
The Northern Nevada Chapter will be having their spring annual audible
Birdwalk along with the La Audubon Society on May 18 from 8 AM to 10:30 AM
at the Oxbow nature study area in Reno. This beautiful walk takes place for
about a half a mile along the Truckee river on a flat Decomposed granite
and boardwalk trail. There are benches and other wildlife along with all of
the wonderful singing and chirping birds. We will of course be identifying
these birds through audible listening only and in years past we've
literally heard dozens of different species. The Audubon folks who will be
on hand Will also have museum skins so that you can feel the feathers and
beaks and talons of different size birds that we may encounter on our walk.
After the event we usually head right down the street for a wonderful
breakfast at a nearby restaurant.
Registration is required for this event.
For further information contact Mark Tadder at
(775) 225-6881

If you're needing help with directions to the Oxbow nature study area , you
can tell any driver that you need to go to Keystone Avenue turn west on 2nd
St. until it turns into Dickerson and follow it all the way to the end
which will be the parking lot for the park. The address is 3100 Dickerson
Ln., Reno, NV and it's pretty easy to find if you follow those directions.
There is also an entrance that's on the west side of the park which you do
not want to go to as it access as private property and more importantly is
not where we will be. Please be available and plan on being at the park at
8 AM as they will leave soon after that on their walk.
On Wednesday, May 21st, there’s going to be a meeting at 7pm. The meeting
is to discuss the particulars and details of our state convention.
The things that we need to talk about are the overall good and bad
outcomes, and/or improvements that could be made in order to obtain
successful results.
The NFB of Nevada is inviting to a scheduled Zoom meeting only those people
who went to the state convention.
