--></style></head><body lang=EN-US link=blue vlink="#954F72" style='word-wrap:break-word'><div class=WordSection1><div><p class=MsoNormal style='margin-left:.5in;text-indent:.5in'>the National Federation of the Blind of Nevada will celebrate White</p><p class=MsoNormal>Cane Awareness Day on October 15th.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Here are the 2023 Activities Across the State of Nevada.</p><p class=MsoNormal>In observance of White Cane Awareness Day, the Northern Nevada Chapter</p><p class=MsoNormal>of the National Federation of the Blind will have a White Cane</p><p class=MsoNormal>Awareness Day Event</p><p class=MsoNormal>Time: 11:00 am.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Location: Meet the members for a White Cane Awareness Walk starting at</p><p class=MsoNormal>the downtown Reno 4th Street Bus Station.</p><p class=MsoNormal>200 East 4th Street.</p><p class=MsoNormal>We will be walking to the Reno Arch for a photo op and celebration as per tradition , then on to Reno City Hall for a reading of the Reno City Council’s white cane Day Proclamation being read by Council Woman Jenny Brekkus. Then onto the National Automobile Museum for a full audio described tour.</p><p class=MsoNormal>The Southern Nevada Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind</p><p class=MsoNormal>will be celebrating a White Cane Awareness Day Event.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Time: 1:00pm till 3:00pm.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Location: Cornerstone Park</p><p class=MsoNormal>1600 Wigwam Parkway</p><p class=MsoNormal>Henderson, NV 89074.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Representatives from the Department of Rehabilitation and Training, and Nevada State Library’s Talking Books will be on hand to help celebrate and answer any questions.</p><p class=MsoNormal>at 2PM the White Cane walk around the lake will take place with all attendees joining in for our annual celebration of the freedom the white cane can bring to blind people everywhere.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Special thanks to The folks at the Blind Center of Nevada who will have their food truck available for refreshments.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Make sure to check out the Southern Chapter‘s Silent Auction fundraiser titled “The Blind Auction” where The highest bidder wins a chance to have a pie thrown in their face for charity.</p><p class=MsoNormal>The Southern Nye Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind Nevada will be holding a White Cane Awareness Walk.</p><p class=MsoNormal>NFB members will be stationed on site to chat with attendees and provide information about what they do to assist blind people.</p><p class=MsoNormal>Time: 11:00 am</p><p class=MsoNormal>Location: The Home Depot Parking Lot in Pahrump, Nevada.</p><p class=MsoNormal>"With the help of a simple yet highly effective tool, the white cane, those who cannot see clearly are empowered to explore and engage their communities." Wrote Robin Hebrock from the Pahrump Valley Times.</p><p class=MsoNormal>We will have elected officials, media and our partners the Lions club of Pahrump is also collaborating at the event and has 500 well put together homemade canes to give out, and a proclamation has been created.</p><p class=MsoNormal>T-shirts have also been made by the Lions Club.</p><p class=MsoNormal>In addition to the walk, there will be a trio of area food trucks</p><p class=MsoNormal>participating, including Pete’s Meats and Treats, 5280 Mexican Grub</p><p class=MsoNormal>and Sunshine</p><p class=MsoNormal>Eats and Sweets.</p></div></div></body></html>
