Please RSVP directly to the Department of Transportation!

Please join the NYC Department of Transportation’s Mobility Management
Program and the National Federation of the Blind to learn about effective
travel techniques and demonstrate new wayfinding technologies for people
with vision impairment. In particular we will be evaluating participants on
their preferences for cane-detectable, high contrast, tactile guideways to
guide people along sidewalks and public spaces. The Mobility clinic will
also feature concurrent mini-workshops focused on:

• Smart phone apps including Autour, BeMyEyes, Compass,
Moovit, Nextbus, OverThere, and Aira with Google Glass

• Braille and tactile maps | Free resources and affordable
tools to make touchable drawings)

• NFB White Cane program forum | Group discussion with
confident cane users about cane skills and successful techniques

Date: Sunday, September 10th, 2017

Time: 10AM to 2PM
