A descriptive gallery tour exploring the exhibition Scenes from the Collection. In this rotating exhibition highlighting the Museum's collection, art and Jewish objects are shown together, affirming universal values shared among people of all faiths and backgrounds. Registration requested.

Visually impaired individuals and their care partners are invited to experience our collection through a descriptive gallery tour featuring tactile engagement. After the ninety-minute tour, join us in the Education Gallery for refreshments, conversation, and community. Assistive listening devices and manual wheelchairs available. Reservations requested.

TOUCH TOUR

Visitors will participate in an orientation session using tactile models of our historic tenement as well as architectural features before going on a tour that will include touch objects and verbal description. The orientation and tour will be an hour and a half long, followed by a reception featuring local Lower East Side foods.

Thursday March 21st from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM 

Hard Times

Discover how immigrants survived economic depressions at 97 Orchard Street between 1863 and 1935. Visit the restored homes of the German-Jewish Gumpertz family, whose patriarch disappeared during the Panic of 1873 OR the Italian-Catholic Baldizzi family, who lived through the Great Depression. 

2nd Floor - Recommended Ages 8 and up.
