Hello,

Our names are Jazmin Collins and Crescentia Jung. We are PhD students at
Cornell University. Our lab is conducting research to enhance the
accessibility of social virtual reality (VR). In this research study, we
will collaboratively design an AI guide with participants that can support
blind and low vision people in a virtual environment. We are looking for
creative and dedicated individuals to participate in this unique
opportunity!

The study includes four (4) sessions that will be conducted on our campus
at Cornell Tech, located on Roosevelt Island in New York City. This is an
in-person study, so participants will schedule four 90-minute time slots
over the course of 4 weeks to come to our campus to complete the study. During
each of the sessions, participants will explore and brainstorm ideas on
using AI sighted guides in social VR.

Participants must be:

   1.

   18 years or older
   2.

Identify as blind or low vision
   3.

Able and willing to travel to the Cornell Tech NYC campus (located at 2
W Loop Rd, New York, NY 10044) for in-person sessions

Since participants will be asked to use VR headsets, we are following the
Meta Quest health and safety guidelines. As such, participants who have the
following conditions are not eligible for the study:

   1.

History of seizures, severe dizziness, eye or muscle twitching, or
blackouts in response to flashing lights or patterns
   2.

   Pregnant
   3.

   Current heart conditions
   4.

Current medical conditions requiring the use of implanted electronic
   medical devices (e.g., pacemakers)
   5.

Other medical conditions impairing sense of motion or balance (excluding
   visual conditions)

If you meet our criteria and the above conditions do not apply to you,
please sign up for a 15-minute screening call through this Calendly link:
https://calendly.com/jazmincollins/ai-guide

We will call the phone number you provide on Calendly.

Participants will be compensated a total of $200 for the study ($50 a
session), along with up to $120 for transportation costs, upon presentation
of receipts. This compensation will be given after the study is completed
as an electronic gift card (Visa or Amazon).

Please reach out to Jazmin (jc2884 at cornell.edu) or Crescentia (
cj382 at cornell.edu) if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing
from you and working with you to improve the accessibility of VR!

Best Regards,

Jazmin Collins, jc2884 at cornell.edu
