categories of optical character recognition available to the blind community
today. The technology</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">behind OCR will be briefly explained followed by a
demonstration of three representative examples of scanning solutions. A
stand-alone device, the SARA</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">CE, a scanning software program, Kurzweill 1000, and several
mobile scanning apps including KNFB Reader and Office Lens will be discussed
and demonstrated.</p>
