We’re celebrating Louis Braille’s birthday (a little late because of the
snow day) with a hands-on exploration of Braille in the modern world. Whether
you’re a seasoned Braille reader, Braille-curious or a sighted ally who wants
to understand why Braille matters, this workshop is for you.

We’ll be exploring the latest Android- and Windows-based Braille Notetakers
and Braille displays, including the Focus 40 5th Generation, HIMS
Polaris, Elbraille, Braille Edge, Braille Note Touch, Brailliant and Vario
Ultra. You’ll learn how these devices work on their own or paired with Windows,
Android and iOS devices. We’ll also have information about signing up for
Braille study groups, creating hard copy Braille and tactile graphics at the
library, checking out free Braille learning materials for kids and adults, and
ordering your own Braille slate and stylus.

Please register to reserve your place by calling (212) 621-0627 or emailing Chanceyfleet@nypl.org.
