It’s time for Thanksgiving!!  And I am so THANKFUL for you!!!  All the advocacy work you have done has helped countless others.  Never stop shining your light!!

Any pharmacy that dispenses retail medications must have talking label service for all medication dispensed to the patient and that has been prescribed by a licensed physician.

Oklahoma Dual Language Prescription label bill HB219 introduced.  Did not beyond referral to Public Health Committee.

Tennessee Board of Pharmacy Rule Proposal Rule 1140-03-.06Accommodations for individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled shall be made. This rule shall not apply to medical and prescription orders dispensed by an institutional pharmacy or long-term care pharmacy for administration to inpatients of that institutional facility or long-term care facility, except when medications are dispensed to patients residing in assisted care living facilities.(This rule is still being reviewed by the attorney general and has still not been officially promulgated.)

The Florida Board of Pharmacy voted unanimously to revise code 64B16—28.108
 
Every pharmacy that dispenses a medicinal drug to a patient or agent of the patient shall ensure that the pharmacy’s policy and procedures manual covers dispensing to the blind or visually impaired. The manual must make certain to address how those with visual impairments will be fully informed of all the information required to be part of the label or labeling.

Maryland passed HB456 Accessible Prescription Labeling Bill
 
The State Board of Pharmacy to adopt regulations necessary to ensure that individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled have appropriate access to prescription labels, bag tags, and medical guides in a certain manner.

Nevada Governor vetoed AB251 revisions to the previous language bill AB177(2021) which would have clarified which languages need to be provided on prescription labels.

Governor Josh Green MD of Hawaii signed Accessible Prescription Labeling Bill HB218
 
It requires certain pharmacies to provide accessible prescription drug label information to individuals who have difficulty seeing or reading standard printed labels on prescription drug containers and inform the public that prescription drug label information is available in alternate accessible formats for individuals who have difficulty seeing or reading prescription drug container labels. Requires the Board of Pharmacy to adopt certain rules by 12/31/2024.
 
  
 
Maine passed LD2147 Requiring That the Department of Health and Human Services, Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention's office of population health equity shall partner with hospitals and health care provider associations to gather information regarding translation and interpretation services and translation of discharge instructions and medication instructions available in hospitals; primary care provider settings; federally  qualified health centers; rural health centers; United States Department of Health and  Human Services, Indian Health Service centers; migrant health programs; and other settings across the State. The department shall create and deliver a public information campaign designed to promote the availability of these services, with particular focus on individuals who use a primary language other than English, including deaf and -of-hearing individuals.

Washington Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission completes public comment and drafts for regulations on accommodations for the translation and accessible labeling services. Rules are in final drafting and report making stage.
