[NFB-Arkansas] Braille labeling for DeafBlind person

Hi Kyle, like you, I’m glad so many people are willing to help. I would love to do so but I’m 45 miles out and it’s a little hard to get in to the rock on a regular basis. I do however have some clear adhesive plastic sheets that I use to make labels. You can cut them into whatever size you need and label them in a Brailler or with a slate. If that something that would help, Gustavo or the employer I would be glad to even mail them. A few of those to work with. Sometimes that’s a better way to label, depending on what you’re dealing with than the dymo labels. Seems to stick a little better also. Let me know if I can help. Donna Walker.

Update: I spoke with the supervisor today, and he said that Gustavo is loaning them a labeler, and later they will borrow one from ICAN at ARS whenever they need it. ICAN is purchasing one from Nano Pack, so other Arkansans will also be able to borrow it. Dr. Ford is providing some Orientation and Mobility routing, for the young lady. The Employer, who is a Deaf guy, hence his absolute goal to make sure that this employee gets every chance to succeed, said to thank y'all. Hey there, Arkansas Federation family! Let’s see if one of us can help this lady out. I got a call today from an employer in Little Rock, who has hired a lady who is DeafBlind. They want to label some of the things at her work in braille, so they can help train her about her tasks at work. She has interpreters, but no braille labeling ability. We just managed to get her some mobility instruction set up, so this labeling thing may be the next thing that’s holding her back from doing her job. Anyone in Central Arkansas have this capability?
