[NFB-Blind-Crafters] Crafting tip with a techno twist

Hi!

A few tech tips, with a crafting twist.

To know which yarn I'm  picking up, here's what I do:


 1. As soon as I get home with a new skain, I remove the label then take a picture of it.
2. I send that picture to Be My AI, the AI assistant of Be My Eyes. The description let me know if my picture included all I needed as information.
3.  If it sound ok, I write the following follow up request :

Give me, in that order: The word "Brand:" followed by all brand names, the word "Weight" followed by  the yarn weight category, The word "Fiber:" followed by the material, the word "Color:" followed by the color, the word "Needle:" followed by the recommended needle size in US and in metric, the word "Gauge:" followed by the gauge information in imperial and in metric, the word "Length:" followed by the length in imperial and in metric and finally the word "Care:" followed by the care instructions.
Please put every requested information on its own line, without any list indicator like-or bullet points. Add a "." At the end of each line.


This prompt return the information I requested in the format I want it. I then copy that.

4. On the Draft application, I paste that info in a note with a 'knitting' and a 'yarn labels' tags. That allow me to quickly find that information again. If I wonder what is that Lion Brand yarn I used a few weeks ago.
5. I tie a Wayaround hole button Waytag on one end of the skain yarn. I then copy the note I put in Draft earlier and I write it to the Waytag.
6. If I'm done with a project and still have yarn left, I remove the Waytag from the tail of the project and tie it to the yarn end.

Sound complicated, I know. But it's simpler than it look and fairly quick to do. If anyone have questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me.

I also use Wayaround sticker to identify the cables and tips bags of my circular needles. And Two hole button Waytag with sewing thread at the base of my straight needles. That might change, if I find a better way. If anyone have any suggestions, let me know! :)
