Hi Ericka. 

It was cloudy every day, with temperatures between 45-60.  Not the big swings we get in Jersey.  The sun might have come out a couple times, but not much.  But it only rained a lot one day, which was nice. 

 

The most amazing thing I felt was a stone inside the passage tomb at New Grange.  It has interlinking spirals carved 5000 years ago.  They are faint, but I could feel them.  It was so cool!  They don’t let most people touch them, but the guide said I could. 

I also sneaked a feel of some embroidery on a bedspread in a castle that was inhabited until only recently.  It was beautiful, leaves and vines.

 

Food.  Irish food is very good.  Ireland is rich agricultural land.  They have a lot of dairy cows, as well as fish and veg.  

My favorite Irish meal is soup with brown bread and a pint of Guinness.  The soup is either fish chowder or the veg soup of the day.  They purée the veg in the soup, so it is very smooth.  They don’t do that with the fish chowder.  Both are delicious. 

Brown bread is a quick bread, made with whole-grain flour, baking soda, and buttermilk.  It’s thick, tasty, and filling.

And Guinness in Ireland is tastier than it is here.  Not sure why, but it is.
