[NFB-Blind-Crafters] Successful Saturday

Hi Henry,

I have had both round and parallel rows of pegs, both plastic and wood, for 8 years or so. My long-time friend, Jane Carona, introduced me to the Flexee loom (skinny) last week and I am impressed. I want to get the next size up very soon.

The afternoon I arrived at Jane's home, we sat down with the Skinnies and she explained the purl stitch to me. I kept dropping the wrong loop behind the pegs and leaving a horizontal piece of yarn behind the loom.

When I awakened on Tuesday, something "clicked" and, with the same instructions, I started purling as though I had done it for years!

The only knit stitch I know is the E-wrap for now but I am focused on learning to do the cornersfirst. With a braille copy of the pattern, I'm excited to master the 10-peg blanket.

Thanks for the encouragement and happy knitting!

Blessings,

Deb Trevino

Hi Deb, I have been a Loomer for over 30 plus years now, and, the Loom is my main passion craft.
Do you use the Flexi Looms yet? I love them!

Good job Deb! You're on your way! There are lots of pretty and useful things that can be made with just knit and purl.

I just learned how to purl on a loom and am working on learning how to do a 10-peg blanket. I'll let you know how its going. Thanks to Jane Carona!

Blessings,

Deb Trevino

It's Successful Saturday! Have you started or finished a project, or achieved a goal? Share your success with us and we'll celebrate with you.

I taught a knitting class this week, which went well. And, because I was doing the project as I was explaining it, I've started a nice hat I'll give to someone. Love making hats!
I also took Laurie's class and made a beautiful beaded snowflake. I'm going to make some more. Easy and lovely, and you can't beat that!

It's also my Seeing Eye dog Igloo's birthday today. He's 5! I can't believe he's middle-aged. To me, he's still a pup.
Tracy
