If you're creating your own shawl, you can make it as long as you want. If
you have a pattern, but it's not as long as you want, you can add repeats.
According to A Treasury of Knitting Patterns, available on Bard, Feather and
Fan is:
Feather and Fan (multiple of 18 st)
1. (rs) knit
2. Purl.
3. * k2tog 3 times, (yo k1) 6 times, k2tog 3 times; rep from *.
4. Knit
Repeat those 4 rows.
"It makes a lovely scalloped edge".
I bet, if you went to Ravelry, or Google, and put in Feather and Fan shawl,
you'd find lots.
