Terry's idea is interesting, but my wire is too thick for my crimping beads.
But I'll give some thought as to something like a branch my penguin could be
sitting on. Ice, right?

Crimping bead is the word that she is looking for.

How about adding some green or brown beads and making a branch and then at
each end, use a clamp bead on the edge of each piece of wire.
I can not think of the right name for the bead. You use a beading tool and
squeeze the wire inside the bead, like when you end memory wire bracelets.
Hope someone else can explain it better. I never learned how to do it!

Subject: [NFB-Blind-Crafters] Pony bead question
I just remade my pony bead penguin using wire instead of string, and it came
out nice. However, the bead holes will only take 2 strands of wire, so I
can't tuck the ends of the wire into the beads. Can I twist the ends
together to hold them, then curl up the ends, or is there a better way?
