About 15 years ago I joined a knitting and crochet group that I found on
Meetup. It wasnt the most accessible website for a screenreader user, but I
was able to RSVP to the meetups and read messages easily enough.
The group moved to Facebook in 2019 because the group leader had to pay an
annual fee to have the group on Meetup, and she didnt want to do that
anymore. Several new people have joined the group since we moved to
Facebook, and when we ask them how they found us, some of them simply say
that they Googled knitting or crochet groups in the area!
Happy knitting!
Sarah

Subject: [NFB-Blind-Crafters] Knitting groups
I joined a new knitting group this week. A friend told me about it. Shes
one of the organizers. Its a cancer support group, and it meets at a
bakery/café a couple blocks from me. Very convenient.
I really enjoy having a knitting group. Its fun to knit and chat, and I
can be inspired by what other people are making. Sometimes I can help
someone, or someone can help me. Its nice to get out and socialize.
Id be interested to hear how other people find craft groups to join. I
found this one through a friend. There used to be 2 at a local yarn store,
which sadly closed. I know Terry P and Henry knit at their church. Are
there other ways to find a group?
Tracy
