Up in Ct. we had Mocking birds living in the trees across the street from us who used to mimic things like lawn mowers, cars and even the fire engine siren at two or so in the morning.

eagles actually have a very soft call that trills. hawks have a louder cry. each hawk breed is different

we have a nated pair that lives near by. last year they had babies. my friend saw the little ones learning to fly. my mom lives in new hampshire and she can hear lots of loons. we also have a raven in my back yard and my mom has a whole pack of them

Naima, glad you’re enjoying learning about birds. I’ve done it a long time, and it’s great.

Jolene, wow! I’ve never heard a hawk in person, or an eagle. People I’m with see them, but they stay quiet.

i love the birds too. i have been a birder for quite a while and can usually identify the birds in our area. a month or so ago i heard a different kind of bird that i never heard in my yard before. so i looked it up and it was a cooper's hawk. i think he may have just been passing through because the only hawks i hear around here are red tail and red shoulder hawks. we have an eagle who has a nest near the grocery stor i go to.

it is a really fun hobby.

Bagerland birding YouTube channel is a good way to learn the birds too. I love being a beginner blind birder.

Sorry, I’m a day late with Successful Saturday. My sister is visiting.

Have you started or finished a project, or achieved a goal? Share it with us and we’ll celebrate with you.

I did some successful elementary plumbing. I changed a toilet fill valve, replacing one that wasn’t working with a new one. Now, after a flush, the toilet will once again automatically refill the tank. Yay!

I’m also having a great time identifying birds coming through on spring migration.
