Thanks. I’ve added that info to the pattern notes you sent.

Tracy,
Depending on what increase pattern you choose, it resembles two granny squares where the center of each square is under your arm pit.

Hi Cindy.
Thanks for the thorough explanation. It sounds interesting. It seems like the joining is more complicated than the knitting, but I bet it looks cool when it’s done. Could be fun.

Tracy,
It technically isn't a pattern per se. The written patterns are for crochet and I am knitting.
For the hexagon panel, cast on how you like, 6 stitches. I prefer the figure 8 cast-on so that it is seemless. Then, you will follow a repeat of row 1: knit, row 2: increase. In your first row, place a marker after each stitch (you can use double pointed, two circs, or magic loop-I use magic loop). The first two increases you will want to do kfb in every stitch. On the third increase you will knit the stitch on each side of the marker and then increase the next stitch. You may use any pattern you want and any increase you like (such as continueing with kfb, yo, m1r and m1l-I am doing just the yo for this first try). So, on the increase round, you are increasing two stitches between each marker. This will give you six equal sides and thus a hexagon.
Increase until you have your sleeve length, or where you want it to stop (I plan on working ribbing in the wrong down to my hands). Then make a second hexagon.
Now, you lay it out like it will make a square and bring the two extra sides together. It will form an upside down capital print L (think of a t-shirt laid flat, then fold it in half down the middle so that the arms are laying on top of each other). Now, you sew the top of the sleeve closed on each panel. At this point, you can either sew the two backs together or start knitting between the two to join them (hexagon 1, new knitting, hexagon 2). Many people will add a different color for a color block look. Some people will also add more knitting along the bottom to add length. Then, you will go up the front sides individually because you do not want them joined and you can choose to leave open or add button holes on one side. This is carried up the front, over the arm, around the neck, and down the other side.
I hope that helps. If you crochet, you might want to do a search for free crochet hexagon cardigan pattern and read several of those.

Cindy, you have been busy! Good for you. You sure learned a lot of new things this last week.
How annoying to find out your pattern’s no good and have to tear it out. But great you found a better pattern for the same thing. Can you send a link for the new, good pattern?

Well, guess what . . . yes, I frogged again!
Okay, so I actually finished the one panel based on the pattern and discovered it is a terrible pattern. So, I went digging for another version of the knitted hexagon cardigan and this pattern is much better. I have restarted that panel and am making progress.
It has been a brainy week. I worked on learning two software programs, did the intial setup of a new computer, did the above knitting trials, and tried sous vide for the first time with my second instant pot which was my first time learning how to use that one because it is a little different from my other one.
Man, that was exhausting just listing it all.

Sorry, I’m a day late with Successful Saturday. My sister is visiting.

I did some successful elementary plumbing. I changed a toilet fill valve, replacing one that wasn’t working with a new one. Now, after a flush, the toilet will once again automatically refill the tank. Yay!
I’m also having a great time identifying birds coming through on spring migration.
