Hi Tracy,

That kind of makes sense, but I wonder why you would want a slit in the middle of the headband. I’m pretty sure you’re supposed to sew it together at the end, so the slit wouldn’t really be for making it adjustable.

Happy crafting!

Sarah

Hi Sarah.

I made a keyhole scarf, and it has a section where you bind off in the middle of one row, then cast on in that place in the next row. Doing that with 18 stitches will make a long slit in that place.

Does that make sense to you, knowing the rest of the pattern?

Tracy

Hi Everyone!

I have been looking for patterns for a knitted headband and I found a Youtube video with a tutorial for a knitted headband. The catch is, the person making the video did not say the directions for each row; they just flashed them up on the screen. I was able to get Gemini to extract the text for me, and most of it is just stockinette stitch with a garter stitch border. But then row 7 says, “Knit 6, Cast off 18, Knit 5,” and row 8 says, “Knit 6, Cast on 18, Knit 6,”. Then you continue to do the stockinette stitch for several rows. This might be wishful thinking, but does this make sense to any of you? Why would you do this random cast off and on again in the middle of the pattern? I have also included a link to the video at the bottom of this email in case any of you have enough vision to see what is going on.

Alternatively, do any of you have patterns for needle knitted headbands that you could share with me?

Happy knitting!

Sarah
