In needle knitting, you bring the color under your working yarn to use 
it. Do NOT cut each row. When you come back around, again, bring the new 
color under your working yarn to start using it.

I don't know if this works in looms but it should. You do not actually 
twist the yarns together. You will have new starts for each color change 
that is more than about three stitches.
