Hi Aythor. Welcome to the list! I’m the list moderator. I do mostly knitting and crochet, though I’m happy to learn new things.

I have a blind friend who built a whole addition to his house, including the plumbing and electrics. He had some help from friends with some of the carpentry, but he did most of the work. I think you’re working to be like him! He used mostly resources he found online or at the library, as I recall.

We used to have a person who did woodworking, though I’m not sure he’s still around. But, even if he’s not, the rest of us will be happy to try and help you problem-solve.

Tracy

Subject: [NFB-Blind-Crafters] introduction and hello

Hello

Since I decided to fill out the subscription form for this list I feel its right to send an introduction here in case the list gods feel I am wrong person at the wrong place.

My name is Eythor and I am originally from Iceland, currently living in Greece.

I was involved with the federation for 2 years when I lived in Louisiana and Arizona respectively and I still consider that time of my life to have had a lot of influence on me.

I am the father of 2 girls and as such I have found myself in a situation where I need to fix toys, adapt books put together furniture and do all sorts of creative problem solving in general. Now recently, I've been rennevating a house and dure to money, surprisingly not being infinite I've been trying my hand at different jobs there to save some money and hazzle where I can.

This has rekindled my interest in woodworking which I got to know very briefly during my time at LCB when I was there in emersion for a few months during myMasters program. I didn't find a specificic woodworkers list so tI decided to give it a try to join this one.

Lately, I've been experiencing a shift in thinking towards a desire to repair the things I can, and create something new where possible. I am also very interested in seeing what crafts people are up to and how you overcome challenges you face when pursuing them.

Best regards

Eythor
