Hi Michelle.

I doubt you could find anyone to do it for a price less than you could buy something new, unless your old nightgowns are very special.

I think it would be a fun project to try yourself, if you’re so moved.  I think you could do a good job using just a tape measure and a handful of straight pins.

I think what you’d do is:

Put on the gown and fold the sleeves to the length you want and pin them.

Do the same with the hem.

Take the gown off and measure where you pinned to make it nice and even, using pins to hold the fabric in place.

Cut off the fabric below your new lengths.

Sew new hems.  You can do this easily by hand.

You might not even need to do any sewing.  Some fabric will fray where it’s cut, and other fabric doesn’t.  And it doesn’t have to be totally perfect.  I don’t think you’ll be dancing down the street in your nightshirt.

The value of doing this project is yours to decide since value is very individualistic. If you have a tactile tape measurer and a hem guide the project is relative simple to do depending on the night gown design.
