How about using a big Baggie? This will also keep them clean and neat. I do
this for my scarves, hats and mittens that are sets. I put a 3 by 5 index
card in the bag with the important info on it like color, brand of yarn and
washing instructions.

I have quite a few shawls I've knit, folded up in my closet.  I'd like to
put a braille label on them, saying the color and pattern.  I'm not sure of
the best way to do it.  I can just write on a card and put it inside the
fold, though experience shows I tend to drop the card when I take the shawl
out.  I could pin a card to the shawl with a safety pin, but I don't want
the yarn to get caught up in the safety pin and cause a problem.

Any other ideas?
