[NFB-Blind-Crafters] Beginner crochet

When I first started crocheting, I learned basic stitches and made a baby blanket.  It was a mess!  It was a trapezoid, rather than straight sides. LOL

 

Some of the first things I made were hats, hacky sack, baby booties, etc.  I get bored with blankets and scarfs, so I focus on Amigurumi.  I also create doll clothes and small creatures to make into magnets.  I have had people want to have me crochet things I have no pattern for.  I take it as a challenge and have crocheted John Deer Trackters, different animals, doll clothes and flowers.  I have even had someone want a wine glass and a high heel shoe.    Learning to read a pattern is important if you want to make Amigurumi.  You must count and use stitch markers or you will get off and it will look strange. 😉

 

 

 

I know many people get nervous about making stuffed animals, but it is all the same stitches, just made in the round instead of flat.

Sarah is interested in a beginner crochet class.  Are others interested?  Is there an experienced crocheter willing to teach?  

 

I’m a beginner+ crocheter.  I can make things, but don’t feel qualified to teach.

I like to make amigurumi—little creatures.  I think, when I was beginning, I made a little purse with a shell pattern.  Also a hat.  What are good beginner crochet projects?
