Hi Tracy, I don’t have anything to trade or sell or that I want to buy right now, but, you are our fearless leader, so put the word out that we are “resurrecting” the Blind crafters Buy, Sell and trade to be held on the first let’s say the first Friday of each month.

My dear Henry, we have the power to resurrect that dinosaur very easily. We just have to pick a day, and remember to advertise on that day.

It used to be the 1st of the month.

So, since we missed the 1st, we can do it today.

Tracy

Good Morning Jolene, there was a “For Sale or Trade Day with this group, but, it went the way of the dinosaur.

yes this is why i liked the kits idea but dont think folks who want free kits will agree. but if you are a crafter or want to learn, there will always be a cost.

i dontlike buying yarn on amazon but they have some good prices on safety pins.

i just got some nice ones. i can look up the brand so people know.

they are very durable and not the cheapy dollar store ones i find in my local dollar tree.

i am always surprised at how much plastic beads cost. they are just as expensive as the cheaper glass beads.

the truth is that prices are going up everywhere. maybe we could set up a way for people to offer extra craft supplies but then shipping would be a cost. so i dont think people are going to get anything for free.

Jolene, you’re right that supplies can cost quite a bit. Maybe we can share lower-cost options.

When my mother passed, we gave a fair bit of her yarn stash to Goodwill.

I’m part of a cancer support group loosely associated with a local hospital, and they sometimes get yarn donated.

Yarn.com and lionbrandyarn.com <http://lionbrandyarn.com> are always having sales, especially yarn.com <http://yarn.com> .

Knitpicks.com has some less expensive yarn that is nice, and they have sales, too.

Michaels also has some cheaper yarn. Now, sometimes cheap yarn is cheap for a reason, but sometimes it’s nice.

I don’t know low-cost options for beads. I’ve bought them from Amazon and Etsy, but they cost something. I did get a lot, though.

Same with kumihimo and macrame cord.

I appreciated the kits Joyce put together for her pony bead classes. She put all the supplies together, so I only got what I needed in all the right colors. She also listed the supplies, but I would have gotten lots more than I really wanted if I’d bought them all separately.

lol yes air and sunshine are still free until the government decides to tax them too.

there havent been any classes which were for anything that required too many supplies since i have joined. so i cannot attest to that. most classes i saw were knitting or similar which only required yarn but even the price of a skein of yarn has doubled in some cases.

Becky is indeed in the stone age. I don't even have checks. The bank sends electronic ones for those that accept and prints paper checks and mails them for me. LOL.
