[NFB-Blind-Crafters] Acrylic and natural fiber yarn

This is the general advice. The one thing you should consider about a 
pattern is the yarn used to create the pattern. Does it make the item 
strong, drapey, or super soft? Is the item a toy that needs to be strong 
for playing with and washable? Is it a sweater that hangs loosely around 
the body with flowing edges? Is it a clothing piece that needs to be 
very soft or a baby cuddle toy that should be tender to new skin?

These are the questions you need to ask when thinking about what yarn 
you want to substitue. It should generally hold the same characteristics 
but you are always able to choose something that that is the opposite. 
If you like a pattern, but want it to lay on your body differently, you 
can do this with a different yarn. It really is just about practice. The 
more you work with different yarns, the more you understand their 
qualities and can make an informed decision. To bring this back around 
to acrylics, there are so many different acrylics that you can find ones 
that match what your pattern was originally made with.
