Hi Tracy,

 

I don't consider myself to be a teacher but I am willing to try and teach a
granny square. 

 

They work up quickly and I have often taken one to bed and worked on it
prior to falling asleep. I often carry scrap yarn in my purse so I can work
on one when I am waiting around. 

 

I've never been on one of your calls and don't have the contact information
for that. Maybe I should hang in on a few prior to teaching the class if you
can provide the info.

Debbie, are you willing to teach a little class on this?  Sounds like you
really know your granny squares.  It could be an hour-long class.  

I think I'd understand it better with people to talk to about it.  I've
tried from written instructions, and it's not sinking in.  And there are a
few others interested as well.  What do you say?

When I make granny squares, I often draw the new yarn through the loop which
is on the hook, drop the old loop over the new one and tighten the new loop
(new yarn). I do all this in a corner. If it is not the final corner, I hide
the tails in the work as I turn the corner and continue double crochets.
Depending on the kind of yarn you are using, it is possible to tie knots and
hide them.

Would any of you skilled crocheters be willing to teach a class on joining
colors?  I'm interested in making granny squares, but they all seem to use 2
or 3 colors, and I'm not sure about the joining, or the hiding ends.  I've
read about it, and Becky or someone explained it to me, but I still don't
get it. 

Anyone else interested in learning this?  Anyone interested in teaching it?
