Hi Cindy, what if you are a man and want to make a sweater?

Yes, this is how making your garments to fit works. If you don't like baggy clothes then that will work. Try marking the finished size on a tape measure and put it on yourself. to see how it would feel and then you can decide how much ease you want. Another option is to take a garment that you own that is your preferred fit and measure it at the bust (put garmet on, put a pin where the bust lays on you, lay flat, measure side to side and double the number) this will help you decide. Remember to consider the weight of yarn you are using. A bulky yarn will have more ease than a sport weight.

It also says the pattern has 12 inches of ease.  

That seems like a whole lot of ease.

I’m roughly “large” in the “to fit” specs, but I’m thinking that I could choose size medium and still have 8 or so inches of ease, so it would still be plenty loose.

Do other experienced knitters think that is correct?
