Last week I saw a crochet pattern using scrap yarn that sounds interesting.
I think it's called the scrappy blanket.
You crochet a blanket, alternating a row of single crochet and a row of
double crochet. Then you take pieces of yarn long enough to go across the
blanket and weave them through the double crochet rows. You can then
crochet a border or leave the ends of the yarn pieces as fringe. It said to
not use yarn thinner than DK, and to make either the blanket or the scraps
in a neutral color. And the scraps don't have to be the same thickness,
which should add interesting texture.
Sounds like a fun way to use up lots of small balls of yarn.
