I believe Tracy is referring to crochet thread which is NOT the
embroidery/cross stitch floss that you are talking about. The skeins
come in a cake like sugar and cream cotton.<br>

<p>I use it for embroidery. It might be difficult because it is
designed to be split into six strands. A hook might tend to go
through the floss instead of catching it. Also, there are very
small scaines. It would take a lot to crochet anything, but
since I rarely crochet, I may be wrong. </p>
