The seed stitch should "stay" as well as the garter and I personally
like the look better, especially with it already on the sides.<br>

a throw, which will be rectangular. I\u2019m knitting the top
bit in a wavy pattern, which is Feather and Fan on a
stockinette base. Someone here posted it as part of a
pattern, and it\u2019s nice. I\u2019ll probably put it on the bottom
edge, too.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">I\u2019ve made
the sides of the throw in seed stitch for 6 stitches. I\u2019m
debating making the top edge in garter stitch for maybe 3
inches, or sticking with seed stitch for 6 rows. I\u2019m
thinking a bit of garter might make the top stay better
where a person puts it, say, if she wants to sit with it
pulled up around her shoulders or something like that. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt">I have a
shawl like that, and the garter does make it stay put, but
it has maybe 12 inches of garter, and I don\u2019t want more than
say 3.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
