Last night I taught a class and forgot stitch markers. I used a safety pin. A gal in my class used a paper clip. At least with real stitch markers they don’t get caught in the thread of the yarn. Normally you put stitch markers at repeats of the pattern on the rows and the last stitch of the row. Like, if I have a knitting row of 100 stitches, I put a marker every 20 stitches, so I never have to count more than 20. But I don’t think I can do that in crochet.
