If some of us want to build a relationship with this woman, it would probably be helpful.&nbsp; We need to tell her that blind people are not alike, so she can't solve everyybody's needs by solving one person's.&nbsp; Like sighted people, we are a far-reaching segment
 of the community.&nbsp; It sounds as though she is doing publicity, and it may be better with some inpput from some of us.&nbsp; But if she says the NFB has approved this just to make her work seem accessible, that would not be helpful.&nbsp; If we can build a relationship,
 it might be useful and interesting to all. New relationships are usually interesting to me, but I am trying to cut down, not take on something new.&nbsp; &nbsp;</div>

<p class="x_MsoNormal">I recently discovered NFB Blind Crafters/Krafters Korner and have been exploring the tremendous amount of practical knowledge your community has developed around accessible crafting.</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">I\u2019m developing the Textile Access Pilot, an initiative examining accessibility throughout knitting, crochet, loom knitting, and other textile crafts. The project looks beyond individual adaptive tools to the complete crafting experience:
 pattern accessibility, tactile and nonvisual instruction, yarn identification and organization, workspace setup, dexterity, cognitive accessibility, equipment, and independent participation</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">I also run Uglier Than Homemade Sin, an adaptive fiber arts project centered on accessible and beginner-friendly crafting.</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">&nbsp;</p>
<p class="x_MsoNormal">I am especially interested in learning from blind crafters rather than assuming that sighted designers, manufacturers, or accessibility professionals can determine what people need on their own. Some of the most innovative solutions I
 have encountered have been developed within the blind crafting community itself.</p>

<p class="x_MsoNormal">I would love to connect with someone from NFB Blind Crafters about the barriers your members encounter, adaptations that have proven particularly useful, and what you wish yarn, tool, pattern, and craft companies understood about accessibility.</p>
