[NFB-Braille-Discussion] Literacy for Adult Learners

All,

Thank you for the encouragement. I've read every book, article, blog,
and research article I've ever found on the subject. The long and
short of it is that very, very, *very* few adult learners have ever
been recorded reading more than 60-80WPM, and even the outliers are
usually at 120 or so. As someone pointed out earlier in this thread,
that could be bad research, bad teaching, limited motivation, or maybe
those people were just too busy reading to be busy participating in a
study about reading. Surely I can think of above average skill levels
that research isn't good at capturing for any number of reasons.
Regardless, 120 would probably serve my purposes, anyway. My ultimate
goals are to read fluently aloud and to read so quickly I'm not
exhausted after just a few pages.

I'll learn to emphasize the braille display and use speech when
something is truly time-sensitive. Let's see where it takes me.
