Off the topic of technology:

Any of you on this list interested in sports? The reason I am asking is
that there are a few things I'm involved in and we're looking for more DB
people to participate.

The triathlon on May 30 is probably too late for any of you to join, but I
and one other DB person will compete.

In August, there will be a bigger triathlon in Lakeville, Minnesota, that is
open to deaf, blind, and deaf-blind triathletes. The distances are 1000
yards swimming, 12 miles cycling, and 3.1 miles running. Although there
will be serious competition among the hardcore athletes, the main purpose is
to have fun and socialize and enjoy the wonders of sport. If you're
interested, let me know. If you can't afford to fly in your tandem cycling
partner, we can provide you with a good partner here, and we provide all
kinds of accommodations.

Every year, a big Deaf group of cyclists takes on a route, usually five
hundred miles. For example, the last one I joined was from San Francisco to
Los Angeles. Jelica Nuccio and I had a blast! We plan to do it again, but
we hope to have more DB cyclists along.

In August, it is possible that a group of deaf and deaf-blind people will
swim the English Channel. It is not confirmed yet, and I am not sure if I
can go, but I'll be in shape anyway because of the triathlon training.

One more thing, Anindya Bhattacharyya and I are working on doing some
fundrasiers where we and others will climb up skyscrapers, that is, climbing
the stairwells up through all those floors. This is a tough, tough sport,
but for that reason, it is GREAT. You interested?

Please let me know if you have any sports interests or plan to participate
in any kind of sporting event. I'll try to join you!

John
