ASL is the language which you are learning. Tactile sign is not a
language. While most sighted deaf use their eyes to understand ASL,
we use our hands.
As an example of this concept, you can read English, or hear English
spoken, but both forms are still English-- it's the mode of receiving
the message that differs.
