Hi Eric:
I am glad that you enjoyed attending our workshop "I Can't Hear the Whispers".  In regards to the ATM's I believe that the NFB will be working to ensure that the ATM's can connect to a refreshable Braille display.  It is also hoped that screen magnifiers can be added at some point for those with low vision who do not know Braille. I do understand that many hearing aid users can not access head phones due to the whistling feedback when ever anything is put up close to the hearing aid.
The ATM accessibility isn't new.  They have had tactile dots on the number pad for a while, but we all know technology is a work in progress. This is an area we all need to stay on top of.
Again, I am glad you enjoyed your first Deaf-Blind workshop. Welcome to the Deaf-Blind division.

Sincerely,Tracie Inman

> *************************************Hi Eric:  I'm so glad to hear that you were with us for the SSP Workshop.  We certainly enjoyed developing it, and we hope that you will stay with us.

I'm afraid I was not present for the presentation you mention, so I cannot provide you with the answer you want.  But  I will be looking for an archive containing the general session in order to listen to it.  If you don't have your answer by then, I hope to be able to provide it for you.  Based on the information provided in your question, though, I want to make an educated guess that the ATM will have a jack or port for hearing aid wearers to plug in their headphones, or even an actual headphone available on the machine itself.  Such devices these days should be hearing-aid compatible.

I hope that someone else who has actually heard the presentation will step up to answer your question.

Welcome to our Division, Eric, and we welcome your daughters as well.  We're very glad you have decided to visit our list.  We hope you will feel comfortable here and that you be inclined to ask any relevant questions or to provide information that you find interesting or valuable to deaf-blind individuals and their families and friends.

Cathy Miller

Hello Eric,

I am glad you have enjoyed your first workshop!

I hope I have understood your question correctly. Are you asking how does a
personwearing a hearing aid listen at the general session?

I have very little hearing in my right ear and I wear a hearing aid in my
left ear. One can request to use the wireless fm system while at the
convention.  They require a small deposit to hold until you return the
receiver after  you are finish attending what you planned to attend. I
picked up the fm system on Tuesday and did not return it until the banquet
was over, At this time they return my deposit.  I was able to use the
hearing device (FM system) during the workshop, deaf blind seminar  and all
general session and banquet.  The NFB will provide ear bugs, of course a
person with a hearing aid could not use. I usually carry my own headphones.

The headphones that I carry go with my pocket talker.  A pocket talker is
not wireless. It comes with a 15 feet cord with microphone attached to the
receiver with headphones. I wear the headphone and others with speak into
the microphone. The pocket talker is good for one on one conversation or a
small group meeting.

I hope this answer your question. Good luck!
Delcenia

I enjoyed my 1st Deaf-Blind Division workshop "I CAN'T HEAR THE WHISPERS!
(SSP) WORKSHOP"
I'm the father of 2 blind teens with more recent hearing loss, thus I'm a
relative newbie to the hearing component of the equation - therefore please
forgive me if the answer to this question is obvious.
After listening to the Cardtronics presentation during the general session
am wondering if anyone could clarify how the voice component of the ATMs
will be accessed by blind individuals with hearing aids.
Thanks for clarifications in advance,
Sincerely,
Eric Vasiliauskas

hello everyone,

I pray everyone has made it home with no headaches.

I want to take the time to say I have enjoyed the workshop and seminar.  The only thing I dislike is that I did not get a chance to meet everyone.  Maybe next time we can do a meet and greet session especially for us new people.

Also, congradulation to all officers. Can we do an email or roster that list all officers and their name along with position.  and email address along with what state they are from?

Thanks
Delcenia
