It sounds like you’ve been through a whole lot also. But I am so glad you’re doing much better these days.

Growing up, my dad did not want me to learn braille. When I was 16 years old, I went to the Florida school for the deaf and blind here in Florida Saint Augustine, Florida. My step mom wanted me to learn braille at FSDB. But my dad called the school and said no. That my daughter is too dumb and stupid to learn braille. Because I also have some brain damage from being left in the car at six months old due to my birth mother. Because my dad is black, and she’s white. Sore skin tone came out a little darker than hers and our hair is of our fathers. Where we have to put hair grease in our hair. So she tried to kill me. She did something to the middle sister for her 1 foot is smaller than the other. And she burnt the sister to use already me and one year older than a middle sister burnt her on the back with an iron.  due to my birth mother. Because my dad is black, and she’s white. Sore skin tone came out a little darker than hers and our hair is of our fathers. Where we have to put hair grease in our hair. So she tried to kill me. And she burnt the sister twos already me and one year older than our middle sister burnt her on the back with the iron that you iron your clothes with.  But once her birth, mom left me in the car with the windows rolled up and I rolled off the seat into plastic and suffocate it. That’s how I became blind and brain damage. So my dad told the school don’t teach me braille because I’m too stupid and dumb to learn it . 

So I’m glad I left home at the age of 16 to go to the Florida school for the deaf and blind. It was hard for me to see a large print. So I had to do everything super loud by audio. And watch that got hard they let me only me go home every Friday so my second mom could help me with my homework and help me catch up on my homework. Bye 11th grade they started letting everyone go home on the weekends. 


I had a best friend from the death department. She is the one that taught me sign language. She will sit one seat in front of me & close enough where I could make out the hand signs and I would copy her hand signs and that’s how I learned sign language. I didn’t start to do tactile sign language until the end of 2016 when I notice my right eye had lost a hunk of vision. I never could see out the left eye. But yes, I have a tiny bit of light tiny bit of shadow that is not useful. Or not good to help me to navigate out of stores in Más. and without hearing aids, I’m totally deaf. With hearing aids, I am profoundly profoundly hard of hearing. I don’t catch all of the conversation. I may only catch a few words. So for all my doctors, I use a tactile sign language interpreter. And when my right fingers up to my right arm is not bothering me, I link my blue focus braille display  up to my iPhone. 

Back in 2005 I had cancer where how can I put it in a nice way where the mama carries the baby. And I had to have a hysterectomy. I was 32 at the time. And one day I was in my room sleep. And I felt a small needle in my left forearm. And whatever she injected me with hat burn Holes locked I mean a whole lot. She was not giving me who is no medicine and nothing like that. Because if they gave me medicine, it will be through the IV. This was a tiny needle filled with. I don’t know what that she gave in my left forearm that burned like crazy. 


I waited a few months after that and come to find out that the needle that that lady stopped me with my forearm had HIV thought I was doing good for the early part of 2000 from 2005 through 2010. Word he was talking about putting me on HIV medicine. And I didn’t get an HIV medicine until 2012. Here today at 2023 I am undetected. And my fire load went from 500 to 800 which is very very good.

I also have asthma, just found out I suffer with anxiety. From finding out I had HIV that sent me into a depression the first 10 years. And I also have non-24 four I have trouble sleeping at night staying awake during the day. And my body doesn’t know they from night.

I’ve been a long white cane usual since I’ve been 18 years old and I’m in my 50s now. And I’ve been a guide dog users since I was 24 years old. So that’s about 25 years going on 26 years next year or 26 years. If anybody is better at math than me, please let me know. I was sure appreciate it.

I had a job in the laundry at Marriott waterside from 2003 through 2017 of April. Till they decided to shut down the laundry and pushed everyone out because they moved all the offices that was behind Starbucks into the laundry. Then I got a job working at the VA here in Tampa Until February 1 of 2020 when they told all of us don’t come back till further notice because that’s when Covid hit Tampa. I took a few months off to recuperate, and I’ve been looking for a job ever cents. But I’ve been doing things to keep busy besides going to all my doctors. I’ve been doing other things that I need to do for myself  and some other things that I need to do for the family. 

I am the youngest out of seven kids. It was five boys two girls. I’m the only one in the family at a seven kids that’s blind the only one out of seven kids that’s a Deaf. And the only one out the family that is a Deaf Blind. But I don’t let it hold me back.

Are use tactile sign language. And I can read on contracted braille. But I know a few words in contract braille . But not enough to read it. So I do much better in uncontracted braille. Which to me is still better than nothing.

I want to say thank you for everyone welcoming me as a new member of the Deaf Blind division. I know, sometimes without being a member I would tell things that would help the deaf blind community with some different apps. Because I believe it’s good to help one another that’s deaf-blindMailing List putting each other down.

But on the National Federation Of The Blind side. Hearing Tampa there is a lady totally blind, not a doctor. An And don’t know nothing about my blindness. She’s telling people in the nfb here in Tampa that I am faking my blindness and that I’m faking my deafness. I wrote an email to Mark Bono and they got mad but I had to do is do to put a stop to it but she still Does it. Not just about me but there was a lady she did a few years ago said that she sees too much to have a guy dog. She is not a N a doctor and she don’t know anything about our blindness or my hearing loss but she claims she does wish she don’t. 

I hope the deaf, blind side or division. I hope doesn’t judge each other like that. Because since the National Federation Of The Blind side does, it makes me want to get out of the National Federation Of The Blind side. Because of the one lady judges people on how much they see and can’t see, and she kind of puts people down if they don’t know, contracted, braille as good as her. And then she throws a People face that she has more technology in her house than other people. I think she hast to put other people down to make herself look good. That’s why contracted Burrell as good as her. And then she throws a People face that she has more technology in her house than other people. I think she has to put other people down to make herself look good. That’s why I don’t like the National Federation Of The Blind side because of her.
