Agreed. Do you think any additional changes are warranted?  It seems to me that the revised description meets the standards we are looking for.

Hello everyone medium things in this job description are strong suggestions. Remember people are volunteering their time. The point is for them a look at have they done work with DeafBlind people before. Do they have an interest in this. In other words can then demonstrate that they can do the job and not do something inappropriate or something that violates our code of conduct. I hope this clears this question up. I should let everyone know that that is description has been sent off to the national office for final approval in the measuring stick of course is that very code of conduct. So I would hope that you would all get the process time to work its way through.

Support Service Provider Job Description for the NFB National Convention.

 

The National Federation of the Blind National Convention is one of the largest gatherings of blind people in the nation. To optimize participation in the convention by members who are DeafBlind, the NFB is seeking Support Service providers willing to volunteer their time to support DeafBlind attendees. You will provide access to the community, including environmental information and facilitating communication between DeafBlind attendees and others at convention.

 

Qualifications:

*  High School Diploma or equivalent and at least eighteen years of age.

*  Certification of completion of Support Service Provider training or two letters of recommendation by professionals working in the field of DeafBlindness.   

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

Experience working with blind or DeafBlind individuals. 

*       If needed, provide American Sign Language services to DeafBlinD individuals.

 

Position Requirements:

*  Support DeafBlind Convention attendees in a variety of settings throughout the convention.

*  Work flexible hours over the course of convention up to 6 hours per day.

*  Working up to 30 hours throughout the convention is required.

*  Other duties as assigned.
