Have him/her stay with you until you're taken back and be present when you come out of surgery. Have the interpreter keep your hearing aids in until the anesthesiologist puts you under, then take the aids after you are asleep and have them put in your ears before you wake. This is what they did with me when I had my hysterectomy last November. My husband was not allowed in the surgery center (only recovery) so the interpreter stayed with me the whole time. Interpreters can do voice interpreting as well. They will translate in the manner in which you are most comfortable. </span></div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: 'Courier New', courier, monaco,

of the tests I will need to be put asleep thus under anesthesia. They would like for me to take out my hearing aids. But what they do not understand, and have tried to explain, that if I remove my hearing aids, I will not hear important instructions. I am totally blind, so relying on my vision is not an option.
