Though the</span><br><span>announcement says "Deaf," Weitzel has deaf-blind artists in mind as well and</span><br><span>is hoping some will apply. The team is committed to making the experience</span><br><span>fully accessible.</span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span>So if you know of any DB artists, writers, or performers whose native or</span><br><span>adoptive language is ASL, please let them know about this opportunity! If</span><br><span>any part of the application process is inaccessible, feel free to contact</span><br><span>Cynthia or me.</span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span>Smmary and link below:</span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span></span><br><span>ATTENTION DEAF ARTISTS, WRITERS, PERFORMERS AND SCHOLARS: </span><br><span></span><br><span>Through a grant awarded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the</span><br><span>Anderson Center will devote the entire month of June, 2014, to five Deaf</span><br><span>American artists whose native or adoptive language is American Sign</span><br><span>Language. Of this group of five, two will be visual artists (printmaking,</span><br><span>painting, sculpture, fiber, ceramics, photography, pottery, etc.) while the</span><br><span>other three can be of any other creative or scholarly discipline (fiction,</span><br><span>non-fiction, poetry, dance, drama, etc.) </span><br><span></span><br><span>Each accepted artist will be provided travel stipend, room, board and</span><br><span>private studio or workspace in a Deaf-friendly environment for 2 to 4 weeks.</span><br><span>4 week residencies are preferred.
