<DIV>That's great to hear Scott. The national DB needs people like you who are
successful at what you do. You are an excellent roll model for others who
are challenged with vision and hearing.</DIV>
<DIV>Scott, your idea of a news letter is a good one to bring up at our national
DB meeting. Our secretary Janice is a graduate student and has been
recovering from mrsa. She is trying to get our info on other DB
lists. </DIV>
<DIV>I'm not a board member, but I do know we are working on solving the problem
of the group being on FB. </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks again for your interest in promoting the NFB DB division.</DIV>
<DIV>Have a safe and prosperous trip to N.Y.</DIV>
<DIV>Best Regards,</DIV>

<DIV>Good afternoon Cheri.</DIV>
<DIV><BR></DIV>
<DIV>Some things with Facebook do cost money, but there are ways of promoting
the group without necessarly paying for them. Most of the social networking
stuff is free, it's just a matter of remaining visible. For example, if the
national NFBDB had a small news letter that came out eaA month with news about
the DB population in general, and/or with the NFB itself, it would remind
people of its existance and also show the hard work that goes into making the
division continue to thrive. You are right, we all have limited amounTs of
time to contribute to the work that needs to be done, I include myself in that
category. After convention today, I fly off to New York for meetings all next
week and am also running a technology seminar in NY later in the month to
train professionals on some note taking devices and how to teach
consumers who are getting services through ICanConnect.</DIV>

<DIV>Greetings Scott from Colorado and all,</DIV>
<DIV><BR>You have a keen sense for organization and the national db can use
a go getter like you. Many suggestions that you have made are either
in procedure or in process. For example, our nfb db website is on
facebook. I was told that the way FB makes money is that when you
place something like this on there and to circulate it cost money. A
credit card was given and one of our members got charged a fee when someone
pressed boost to circulate it. So I am not aware of what changes have
been made to correct it. There are costs with everything.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I'm especiallyy happy though that a dialogue has been started within
the nfb db list. This is one avenue we should make good use of by having our
division post info about our division to attract interested persons.
If more people got involved with the national db they could easily get a
committee started in their state.</DIV>
<DIV>As you know the purpose is to inform others who have a need of what is
available for the deaf=blind, such as the "i can connect". And to help
the states with getting other states to pass legislation for SSP's.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Many of our members are working,, in schools, like HKNC, or
universities and this is why we need more participation. I myself am
caring for my young grandchildren who live in our home.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>If I recall we did have one resolution make it out of committee to the
convention floor. I could be wrong, but I think it was voted
down.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I can't tell you everyone's states, but I am working on these
affiliates myself. I have to find or get the affiliate president to
assign a contact person in Ma., Conn., S>C. and P.R. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Best Regards all,</DIV>
