<DIV>Marsha,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>I'm sorry there is some confussion concerning this last email that Rox sent
to the list. He was asking "is it just me or is it odd that a deaf person
such as myself cannot hear on conference calls to ask about interpreters."
I was merely trying to let him know there are other ways to find out.
</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>If you wish to let him know that is certainly a kind and considerate thing
to do. Maybe we should ask someone to send the info to the list for anyone
else who might still be considering going. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Again, I have no argument with you and I'm sorry this has got you up
set. Thank you for taking care to let Rox know of the interpreters.</DIV>

<DIV>Rox was the one asking about interpretors and SSP's. I was relaying my
experiences with interpretors and SSP's within the NFB. </DIV>
<DIV>I will be on the call you mentioned. But I am planning on being there
anyways. </DIV>
<DIV>I myself have already registered for the national convention, and sent
off my request to Mr. Lewis for interpretors. My request has been put in
plenty of time. I am aware that if my request was not put in asap then I would
not have an interpretor. When I made my request I did not make a request for
SSP, only interpretors. So I will send another email. </DIV>
<DIV>Hope that clears up things. </DIV>
<DIV>Thanks!</DIV>

<DIV>Marsha,</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>If you are on the conference call for the db national the president and
or secretary will announce the information needed for requesting
interpreters. It is usually that you must request interpreters at the
time you pay your registration fee to the NFB national. We were told
at the c call last year that the NFB was not providing SSP's, but some
people who had interpreters were assigned to them for the entire time they
were in Orlando. If you can go to the seminar conference call that you
wish to attend you will know when their seminar is going to be held.
The national office will be able to tell you if you call them and say I wish
to attend X. Your state affiliate should have scheduling also.
But there is a deadline for requesting interpreters. Get your
registration in early. If you have not registered prior to coming the
NFB is NOT required to pay for interpreters who have not been assigned
to someone in advance. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Good luck and enjoy. Cheri</DIV>

<DIV>Rox,</DIV>
<DIV>Here is my experience thus far, which I admit is limited. at the
washington seminar, I requested interpretors, for both the great gathering
and my meetings with the representatives. But because my state didj't have
some of the appointments until the last minute, getting interpretors
didn't happen for the congressional meetings. Now the NFB did provide me
with interpretors for the great gathering and the reception on tuesday.
Both of the interpretors I used, were awesome. And the nfb took care of
that for me.</DIV>
<DIV>I have already put my request in for interpretors for the national
convention. Unfortunately because the agenda is not out yet, I can't say
which meetings I will be attending and which I will not. I too am
interested in attending the NAGDU, deafblind and human service
meetings. </DIV>
<DIV>I understand its very hard to make arrangments, you need to know when
the meetings are, in order to make interpretor requests, and then of
course register for the convention. </DIV>
<DIV>That is my experience with interpretors, when I requested SSP's for
the Washington seminar, they would not help me with those
costs. </DIV>
<DIV>We should put in requests for SSP's. All of us, so that everyone
knows that there is a need, not just for one person, but all of the
deafblind who need to use an SSP. </DIV>
<DIV>Just my two cents, </DIV>
